8-team tournament, only 4 captains at the trophy unveiling—why?

Desk Report:

The curtain rises on the National Cricket League (NCL) T20 tomorrow. Earlier today, the trophy unveiling ceremony was held in Bogra. However, surprisingly, only 4 team captains were present in the 8-team tournament. Naturally, the question arises – where are the other four?

Since the league is starting simultaneously in Rajshahi and Bogra tomorrow. There will be no matches in Dhaka, Khulna, Chittagong and Rajshahi in Bogra on the first two days. Therefore, the captains of the four teams of Rajshahi, Khulna, Dhaka and Chittagong were not present at the trophy unveiling of the NCL T20 League in Bogra today. Even though the travel distance is two hours, due to the reluctance of the captains and the divisional teams, Sylhet’s Zakir Hasan, Dhaka Metropolitan’s Mahidul Islam Ankan, Barisal’s Salman Hossain Emon and Rangpur’s captain Akbar Ali were present at the trophy unveiling in Bogra.

Last year, the BCB tournament committee had brought eight captains together to unveil the trophy in the first edition of the tournament in Sylhet. However, this time, for the first time, it was not possible to bring all eight captains together as the games were spread across Rajshahi and Bogra.

Sylhet will face the current champion Rangpur in the opening match in Bogra tomorrow. On the other hand, Dhaka Metropolitan will play against the host Rajshahi in Rajshahi.
